Nothing says love like a heartsicle!
- 2 Fancy Sprinkles® jumbo heart cakesicle mold
- 8 Acrylic popsicle sticks
- 3 piping bags
- 1 spatula
- Measuring spoons
- 1 Paintbrush
- 1 boxed cake [or just buy one pre-made at the store]
- ⅓ cup of store-bought frosting or Nutella
- 2 cups of white chocolate or Optic White Easy Candy™
- Oil based food coloring: pink, orange, purple
- Fancy Sprinkles® Truth or Dare sprinkles
- Fancy Sprinkles® Rose Quartz Pink Prism Powder
1. BAKE THE CAKE - Or buy a cake 😉
Simply follow the instructions on the box. Let it cool. [Or save yourself some time and pick up a pre-made cake at your local grocery store.]
2. MAKE YOUR CAKE POP DOUGH
Place your cake in a large mixing bowl and start to crumble it up with your hands. Once the cake is all crumbled you will add in the frosting. Start by adding It 1 TBS at a time until the dough is no longer crumbly and able to hold its own shape. Anywhere between 1.5 TBS- 3 TBS should be enough. This is your cake pop dough. Set aside until step 6.
3. MELT THE CHOCOLATE
An easy way to do this is to place chocolate in a bowl and microwave for 30 seconds. Stir chocolate well and heat again for 15 seconds. Repeat this process and heat chocolate for no more than 15 seconds at a time. Do not rush this step.
You want the chocolate to ALMOST be all melted. Use your thermometer to make sure the temp does not go above 90F. Once it’s nearly all melted stir it well and the residual heat will melt the rest. Be careful not to overheat your chocolate.
4. COLOR THE CHOCOLATE
Once melted separate your chocolate into three different bowls, add a drop or two of each color to each bowl and mix. Once you get your three colors, scoop your chocolate into separate piping bags.
5. SET YOUR CHOCOLATE IN THE MOLD
Drizzle a bit of each color in each mold cavity to create a tie-dye effect. Using your popsicle stick make sure you spread the chocolate thoroughly over the entire mold. Be sure to get enough chocolate on the sides of the mold because it can crack easily if the chocolate is too thin. Insert the popsicle stick while chocolate is still melted.
Tap your mold on your countertop a few times to ensure you get any air bubbles out … and this also helps to spread your chocolate.
6. STUFF YOUR CAKE POP
Once the chocolate Is fully set [should take about 5 minutes; you can speed up this process by putting your mold in the fridge for a bit] add cake pop dough to the mold. While you add the dough be sure to press it down gently to compact it inside the mold.
7. SEAL YOUR CAKE POP
Add a layer of chocolate on top of your cake pop dough to seal the back of the cakesicle. Using the back of a spoon or an offset spatula spread it evenly over the top. To make sure your cake pop comes out clean, try to scrape away any excess chocolate on the outside of the mold.
Place your cakesicles in the fridge for 10 minutes so the chocolate completely hardens before popping them out.
Use a large paintbrush to paint your entire cakesicle with Rose Quartz Pink Prism Powder.
Hopefully you have a little leftover chocolate in your piping bags that you can use to drizzle the side of the cakesicle. If chocolate is already hardened in the piping bag, just microwave it for 30 seconds so it melts again.
