THE DEFINITIVE GUIDE TO EASY CANDY™
Working with Easy Candy
- HEAT: Put Easy Candy™ in the microwave for 30 seconds. Remove and knead to distribute the heat. (Repeat)
- CUT: Snip the tip of the bag. Smaller hole to drizzle; larger hole to pour.
- DECORATE: Drizzle, Pour or Dip
If your candy chips aren’t melting inside the bag, you’re not heating long enough. It’s important to get the chips WARM, not HOT. Once they’re warm you can knead the bag until the heat is fully distributed and the chips are evenly melted. The chips will still look whole after you heat them for the first 30 seconds. It is important to knead them as much as possible to distribute the heat throughout the bag.
Yes! If your melted candy has seized up, meaning it hardened and isn’t soft/smooth, pour the chips into a bowl and add a tsp or tbsp of vegetable oil to the candy and stir. This will cause the sugar to melt again and hopefully regain its fluidity.
There are a couple reasons why this may happen. It could mean that your chips have absorbed trace amounts of moisture or that they were overheated. If you encounter this consistency, try adding a tsp of vegetable oil to each 8oz of chips to thin out the mixture.
Mess: You do not need to set up a double boiler or worry about chocolate, easy melts or candy melts stuck to your favorite bowl. Easy Candy™ comes in a ready to use microwaveable piping bag. You just heat it up, snip the tip and you’re ready to go.
Time: Aside from the prep and the mess, Easy Candy™ are ready to use in just about 1 Minute. Pop the bag in the microwave for 30 seconds, take the bag out and massage it quickly to distribute the heat and put it back in the microwave for another 30 seconds. That’s it, you’re ready to go!
Convenience: You no longer have to try to measure large wafers in a small cup, just pop Easy Candy™ in the microwave and go. If you secure the opening and store in a cool dry place (not the refrigerator), you can reheat them up to three times.
Size: You will notice that our Easy Candy™ chips are just that - chips. They’re much smaller than your traditional easy melt wafer and therefore melt faster and more evenly.
Less Complexity: Different types of materials absorb and distribute heat differently. This can be a challenge with candy melts because if your bowl absorbs heat, the candy melts will heat too fast and become hard. This is not a factor with Easy Candy™ because they come in a microwaveable bag (no bowls needed) and have tested melt times to ensure your candy melts evenly every time.
You can use Easy Candy™ just like you would use a piping bag! Cut the tip of the bag to your desired width depending on your project. For example, if you are drizzling the candy and require accuracy, cut a very small hole. If you are pouring into a mold or a bowl for dessert dipping, the hold can be bigger.
Storage + Expiration
We recommend using Easy Candy™ within one year of purchase.
As long as it is stored in a sealed package or container, Easy Candy™ can be used within one year from the time of purchase.
Yes, but we do not recommend melting them more than three times as you will start to notice that the candy chips become more difficult to melt.
You should always store your candy in a cool, dry place or airtight container. Do not store in your refrigerators or freezer because they contain too much moisture, which will be absorbed by the candy chips and impact usability. The only time you should place Easy Candy™ in the refrigerator is when you are waiting for the candy to set in a mold or on a finished product.
It is called “Fat Bloom” and it is very common! It is often found on candy chips that have been stored in a place with inconsistent temperatures. It occurs when the fat from the candy has separated due to the change of temperature and then re-settled on the surface. There is nothing wrong with the quality of the candy and as soon as it is melted, the fat will mix back in and you will no longer notice it.
Creating with Easy Candy™
We do not recommend spraying the mold with any kind of cooking or non-stick oil. The candy should not stick to the mold.
We do recommend placing dipped goods on parchment to prevent candy from hardening to the surface it’s placed on.
Make sure your mold is clean before using it. Any kind of scuffs or residue inside the mold will decrease the shine of the finished product. Clean the mold out with a little vodka (or grain alcohol) or hot soapy water first. Dry it completely before putting candy in.
Let the candy chill in the mold for 10-15 minutes in the refrigerator. Check to make sure it is set before trying to remove it from the mold by tapping it. If it’s hard it will have no give.
It is ready to take out of the mold once it is firm to the touch.
After evenly swirling the melted candy around in each cavity, flip the mold over and pour excess candy out. Some professionals like to use a paint brush to brush the candy up the sides of the mold for precision. You can also run a large baking spatula over the top to scrape off any extra candy.
Yes, it can be used as a ganache replacement for drip cakes, except it won’t be soft at room temperature.
We recommend making your desserts no more than one to two weeks ahead of time. Store them in a cool dry place out of direct exposure to light.
